Mercy was a real labour of love. We put a lot into that video including hunting down over 20 big screen TV's to use as our backdrop! It took two days to setup and shoot and it really looked amazing. Our video tech, Paul went above and beyond for that one. When we saw the final cut of that video we knew it was the start of something special.

I got a call from Brian, who I've played with in the past, and he mentioned that Suicide Star had a big gig coming up and needed to fill the lead guitar spot for the show. I hadn't really heard of Suicide Star but after hearing the songs, I knew these guys were the real deal so I agreed. Little did I know that the show was at the OLG in front of 5,000 people! The performance was a lot of fun and the crowd was really into it. We got a long so well together I knew I wanted to stick around and see where this thing would go. We haven't stopped since.

I got a call from Brian, who I've played with in the past, and he mentioned that Suicide Star had a big gig coming up and needed to fill the lead guitar spot for the show. I had never really heard of Suicide Star but after hearing the songs, I knew these guys were the real deal so I agreed. Little did I know that the show was at the OLG Stage in Niagara Falls in front of 5,000 people! The performance was a lot of fun and the band got a great response from the crowd. We got a long so well together I knew I wanted to stick around and see where this thing would go. We haven't stopped since.

A Band Built in Separate Rooms

When it came time to meet to record the first record, it was smack in the middle of the Covid pandemic. We knew we wouldn't be able to be in the same room together as you would do in a traditional studio environment. So Brian worked on getting each of us setup in our own homes so we could record our parts, then send them as tracks for Brian to mix. It was strange at first without the interplay of the band members through the recording process, but we soon came to realize that there's a certain kind of relaxed atmosphere to recording by yourself. You can do it at your own pace. There's no time clock ticking away pressuring you to finish your part. It took a lot of the pressure off and it shows in the music.

Aside from noodling on my guitar I had been away from music for a long time and never thought I would be in a 'band' situation again. As fate would have it Brian and Aki were looking to put together a new project. I've known Brian since high school but hadn't seen him for years. Brian happened to come across a video I posted of me singing and playing guitar on Facebook and a light bulb went off. After one fateful meeting at a local pizza place Suicide Star was born!
